I'd been wanting to travel to the Lake Winnipesaukee region of central New Hampshire for some time to see the beautiful combination
of lakes and mountains there. I finally took some time this past spring (2002) to explore around the lake and hike to some of the different
vantage points around Lake Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake. I found several wonderful overlooks, but this view of Lake Winnipesaukee
from the summit of Mount Major was one of the best. I traveled over and photographed several times before deciding exactly how I wanted
the image to look, and then headed over to photograph when the conditions were just right for the lighting I wanted.

There is a key to some of the islands, bays, and towns on the poster. The gold title and border helps set off the beautiful evening
colors in the image. This panorama includes views to the west, north, east, and south and encompasses the view
of the whole lake - from Meredith, Center Harbor, and Moultonborough on the left, to Wolfeboro just right of center,
and Alton Bay on the far right. The shadow of the mountain on the right is from Mount Major itself.

Please note the misspelling of Winnipesaukee in the title. The second 'e' at the end was in the original layout, but somehow
got dropped by the time it went to print - and we never caught the error. We've since learned there have been various spellings of
Winnipesaukee over the years - since it was an Indian name - and this is similar to others that have been used.
