Adventure Photo Tour - Sacandaga River Gorge and Waterfalls

One Day Fall Nature Photography Tour
$170. up to 30 days before, then $190.

Rated Moderate
10 PM - 6 PM

Enjoy the everchanging scenes along the Sacandaga River on this hike back to the waterfalls found by the gorge on the West Branch, near Wells. In this one day nature photography tour we will hike about 5 miles round trip along the river, photographing at special locations on our way. Falls colors will be near or just past prime, offering a lot of options for photographing along the flowing waters.
Mid October is a great time for Adirondack fall photography. There are no bugs anymore, and both the calm and flowing sections of the river combined with the fall colors will offer all kinds of photographic possibilities. All types of lens equipment could be used from macro lenses / extension tubes to wide angle and telephoto lenses. Please bring along an umbrella and wet weather gear in case there are showers.
This nature photography tour is designed for those who are already comfortable with camera basics such as the relationship between aperture, shutter, and ISO settings. During this 8 hour day we will start out with a very brief introduction / discussion and then will have most all day to play with photo techniques in the field. If it looks like good sunset conditions we'll try to find a nice location along the river to do sunset / twilight photos as well. Sunset is about 6:10 PM. Sometimes the best conditions are 20 minutes or so after actual sunset so it could be as late as 6:30 PM before we finish up for the evening - and then may still need to hike out some. Depending on the river water levels we may change plans, and photograph at some other destinations in the area, also requiring hiking.
This nature photography tour is rated MODERATE - This will be a hike with walking over moderately rough or rocky terrain, over about a 5 mile round trip hiking distance. There won't be anything very steep, but we will hiking on a backcountry Adirondack trail with maybe some off-trail travel as well.

A maximum of 6 participants, allows plenty of opportunities for individual interaction throughout the day on the different photo shoots.

The workshop fee includes all instruction and any handouts - but does not include lodging or additional meals. Please bring along whatever you would like for food and drink through the day, as well as any extra gear you might need to stay comfortable in the outdoors. Please check the Equipment List Link guidelines for hiking gear.

We look forward to photographing with you and working with you on this nature photography tour.
Please contact us with any questions!
I am planning to meet for the tour at the trailhead near Wells. There will be full info in an Email with all of the tour information.
